I am a Ph.D. researcher in International Affairs and Political Economy at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Konstanz in Germany, with a specialization in Conflict Studies and Research Methods. In my research, I focus on how wartime violence influences political behaviour. I am also interested in the psychological mechanisms that shape the way in which we perceive political actors.

You can explore some of my ongoing projects connected to these two overarching questions here:

1 What are the political consequences of wartime violence? 2 How do social hierarchies, public attention, and salient events shape, reinforce, or disrupt perceptions of political actors?

I often use spatial analysis, surveys and, whenever possible, I try to use creative measurement methods and indicators, such as betting odds from the Eurovision Song Contest as a measure of state perception or a quasi-random border to proxy who was at high risk of experiencing violence. My research was awarded with the Stuart A. Bremer Award in 2024 and again in 2026, as well as with the Christiane-Rajewsky Award.
